The Application Engineer supports customers in selecting, applying, and commissioning precision gearing products. This role involves providing technical expertise, creating tools and training for sales and customer support, and offering feedback to enhance existing products and develop new ones. The engineer will also develop technical materials for products as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical support on the selection and sizing of gearing products to customers, distributors, and internal teams.
Analyze customer needs and develop technical specifications and proposals.
Prepare and deliver product presentations and demonstrations, both in-person and at trade shows.
Collaborate with sales teams to understand market demands and recommend product improvements.
Research competitor products and provide insights on technical strengths and weaknesses.
Assist in adapting product designs and developing technical documents.
Create and update bills of materials (BOMs), price lists, and repair part documentation.
Diagnose product issues and recommend solutions to improve quality and performance.
Assist in creating marketing and technical documents, including catalogs and manuals.
Document and submit reports on warranty and repair procedures to improve efficiency and service.
Stay up-to-date on industry trends and acquire new skills through training sessions.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Strong ability to interpret engineering documents, schematics, and technical manuals.
Strong technical knowledge of servomotors, precision gearboxes, and other motion control products.
Proficiency in mathematics, including algebra, geometry, and calculus.
Knowledge of AutoCAD, 3D modeling, ERP software, and Microsoft Office.
Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly.
Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to travel as needed for customer visits and meetings (up to 5%).
Ability to effectively collaborate with our Japanese parent company.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
0-3 years of experience required.
Physical Requirements:
Occasionally work near mechanical equipment and in environments with moderate noise.
Ability to travel domestically for business.
