The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving business growth within an assigned territory by developing opportunities with OEMs, distributors, and key end-user accounts. This role focuses on promoting power transmission products, particularly high-precision servo product families and engineered gearmotor assemblies. Success in this position requires managing a large geographic region and influencing purchasing decisions across multiple organizational levels.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or Marketing/Business, or the equivalent of 8 years of industrial automation sales experience.
Proven success in developing a sales territory and meeting sales targets, with 8 years of direct sales to large OEMs and motion control distributors.
Strong technical knowledge of servomotors, precision gearboxes, and other motion control products.
Understanding of mechanical and electrical servo system sizing and the ability to guide customers to the right solution.
Experience working with new product lines.
Strong relationship-building skills, focusing on increasing sales and profitability.
Excellent planning and organizational skills, with a preference for digital/paperless workflows. Ability to prioritize and respond to customer requests efficiently.
Proficient in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with all organizational levels.
Attention to detail, consistency, and confidentiality.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with the willingness to learn CRM and ERP software.
Core Responsibilities
Promote and sell high-precision gearing products within your region, focusing on developing new machine builder accounts. Overnight travel, up to 50%.
Exceed sales targets by engaging OEMs, distributors, and strategic end-user accounts through calls, emails, and in-person meetings.
Build relationships with client engineering, purchasing, sales, and management teams, identifying how Nidec Drive Technology can meet their needs.
Develop and execute a sales and marketing strategy for the region. Prioritize accounts based on revenue potential, cost to serve, and success likelihood.
Identify and qualify sales opportunities, negotiate pricing and terms, and collaborate with internal engineering teams on custom solutions.
Stay current on Nidec Drive Technology products and competitor offerings to drive effective sales.
Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and distributor events, providing training as needed.
Manage regional channel conflicts and provide input on market conditions to management.
Prepare and submit timely reports on account activity, sales forecasts, and expenses.
Track and manage accounts, contacts and opportunities using CRM software.
Present technical information effectively across diverse settings.
Accurately size gearboxes using specialized sizing software.
Leverage online tools to cross reference and compare competitive products..
