Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGVs) are mobile robots designed to transport materials or goods within a defined environment, typically in warehouses, factories, or distribution centers. They operate autonomously and can move along predetermined paths or routes. AGVs use several methods to navigate their environment. Common technologies include Magnetic Tape/Strips, Laser/Optical Sensors, LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging), Vision Systems, and Inertial Navigation Systems (INS).
AGVs are a key component of modern automation systems. Their ability to move materials autonomously, safely, and efficiently helps increase productivity and reduce human labor in many industries. AGVs continue to evolve with advancements in AI, machine learning, and sensor technology, becoming even more flexible and capable of navigating complex environments.
